| Use: | Vitamin B1, also known as “thiamine”, is one of the B vitamins. It promotes normal glucose metabolism and is essential for the maintenance of nerve conduction, heart and gastrointestinal tract function. It combines with adenosine triphosphate to form vitamin B1 pyrophosphate, which is a coenzyme necessary for carbohydrate metabolism, and the lack of this coenzyme can lead to oxidative metabolism obstruction and the formation of pyruvic acid and lactic acid buildup, which affects the body's energy supply. Vitamin B1 can also inhibit cholinesterase activity. When vitamin B1 is deficient, cholinesterase activity is enhanced and acetylcholine hydrolysis is accelerated, which also leads to impaired nerve impulse conduction and affects gastrointestinal and cardiac muscle function. Vitamin B1 is abundant in the seed coat and germ, and is now used medicinally as the synthetic thiamine hydrochloride. |
